Questions

Common questions

Sand-wash or broom finish?

Both start the same way. Broom finish is dragged with a broom for texture and grip. Sand-wash is washed to bring up the fine sand in the mix for a softer, even look — common around pools. We can talk through both at the site walk.

Can you color the concrete?

Yes, two ways. Integral color is mixed in at the truck, so it runs all the way through the slab. Powder or release color goes on top and is usually paired with stamped concrete.

Concrete, pavers or porcelain?

It comes down to the look you want and your budget. Concrete is one pour. Pavers sit on a sand base and individual pieces can be pulled and reset. Porcelain goes down on a concrete sub-base for a clean, tile-like surface. We'll price whichever you're weighing.

Do you pour driveways?

Yes. Driveways are poured 6 inches thick — thicker than a 4-inch patio or pool deck — because they carry cars.

Who picks the pavers or porcelain?

You do. Pick the product and color, then buy it yourself or have us carry an allowance in the bid. Our price covers the prep and the install.

Can you add drains in the deck?

Yes. We set area drains and channel drains with the flatwork so water runs off the deck instead of sitting on it. See our Drainage page for the details.
