20-year cost: concrete vs pavers vs porcelain
Here's our starting price for your patio size in four materials, then 20 years of published sealing costs, lifespans and typical repairs — every number sourced. Pavers and porcelain are priced install-only (you supply the pavers or tile), so compare them with that in mind.
Broom concrete
- Up front (our starting price)
- From $7,200
- Sealing over 20 years
- $2,150 – $10,000
- Reseal every 2–5 years
- Typical lifespan
- 25–30 years
- If it needs repairs
- Minor crack repair (larger cracks priced by the foot): $300
National, plain concrete patio, no finish or color (Concrete Network, Jan 2026)
Lifespan is a HomeAdvisor average seen only as an excerpt. Reseal every 2–3 years (HomeAdvisor) to 3–5 years (Angi, LawnLove, Bob Vila); professional sealing about $1.35–$2.50/SF, ~$1.50 most common. No OC-specific flatwork price found.
Stamped concrete
- Up front (our starting price)
- From $9,200
- Sealing over 20 years
- $2,150 – $10,000
- Reseal every 2–5 years
- Typical lifespan
- Not found in published sources
- If it needs repairs

Stamping ADDS $4–$18/SF over a plain patio (Inch Calculator, national)
No stamped-specific lifespan found (only the general concrete-slab 25–30 years). Sealing figures are for concrete in general, not stamped concrete specifically.
Pavers
- Up front (our starting price)
- From $4,400
- Install only — pavers / tile supplied by you or carried as an allowance.
- Sealing over 20 years
- $800 – $7,000
- Reseal every 3–5 years
- Typical lifespan
- 20–50 years
- If it needs repairs
- Re-level sunken pavers (simple): $1.00–$3.00/SF
- Remove and relay pavers: $5.00–$15.00/SF
- Polymeric re-jointing: $1.40–$3.60/SF
San Diego, concrete pavers installed WITH material (Install It Direct, Mar 2026)
Lifespan sources disagree: 20–50 years in one excerpt, 50–100 in another; no manufacturer figure found. Reseal 3–5 years (Belgard, Unilock), 2–3 years for busy driveways near salt air (Western Interlock); Unilock says sealing isn't required. Sealing and repair costs come from low-quality aggregator pages — treat as rough. Relaid pavers lose no service life (CMHA).
Porcelain
- Up front (our starting price)
- From $9,150
- Install only — pavers / tile supplied by you or carried as an allowance.
- Sealing over 20 years
- Not found in published sources
- Typical lifespan
- Not found in published sources
San Diego, porcelain patio dry-set on a permeable base, installed WITH material (Install It Direct, Mar 2026; another page of the same site says $35–$70)
No porcelain lifespan in years was found — one supplier says only "decades if properly installed". A contractor says porcelain is non-porous and needs no sealing (marketing claim); by definition it absorbs 0.5% water or less. No repair costs found.
Up-front prices are Wolf Pack's starting prices from our live price list; sealing and repair figures are published ranges, not our quotes. Final price after a free site walk.
