Drainage
Drainage
Water has to go somewhere. We set area drains and channel drains in decks and patios, and French drains behind walls and raised bond beams, so it goes where it should — not into your wall or against your house.

How we price it
Drains are priced by the linear foot. Channel drains with a metal grate are a custom quote. Drains are usually bid together with the deck or wall they serve, in the same written scope.

Questions
Common questions
Area drain, channel drain or French drain — what's the difference?
An area drain is a small inlet in the deck that ties into solid pipe. A channel drain is a long, narrow grate that catches water across a whole edge — like where a deck meets a wall or a door. A French drain is a perforated line in gravel that collects water from the soil, usually behind a retaining wall.
Why does a retaining wall need a French drain?
Water that collects behind a wall pushes on it and soaks into the block. The French drain gives that water a way out so it doesn't build up behind the wall.
How do you figure how much drain I need?
We measure the deck, find the low spots, and lay out the drain runs. Your written scope shows the footage of each type of drain.
Can I get a metal grate?
Yes. Metal-grate channel drains are priced as a custom quote.
Do drains come with the deck job?
Usually, yes. We bid the drains together with the concrete, pavers or walls they serve, so it's all in one scope.
