What matters here

What Yorba Linda yards ask for.

  • Slopes and canyons

Hillside yards need retaining walls built right: block, waterproofing on the back side, and a drain so water has a way out.

  • Room to spread out

A larger lot leaves space for a full deck, steps, steppers and an outdoor kitchen. Plan them together so the levels and drains line up.

  • Near open hillside

Parts of Yorba Linda back up to open, brushy hillside. Block, stone, concrete and pavers don't burn — worth keeping in mind when you plan what goes near the house.

Questions

Yorba Linda questions, straight answers.

Can you build a retaining wall on a slope?
Yes. Block walls with waterproofing, a drain behind them, and stucco or stone on the face. Taller walls and walls holding a slope usually need a permit and sometimes engineered plans — we'll go over it at the walkthrough.
Do you do the drainage too?
Yes — area drains, channel drains and French drains behind walls. It usually goes in the same scope as the wall or deck.
